About us
In an Berkshire mill town, brought back to life by a contemporary art museum, there’s a little main street with a couple of coffee shops, a gallery, a general store, a family restaurant and a theatre.
This blog is about that theatre.
Here’s the official version: The Main Street Stage is a storefront theatre at 57 Main Street, downtown North Adams that is home to an all-volunteer company of players that seeks to be an artist’s playground and to use its programming as a place to bring together artists of all disciplines.
Here’s the inside scoop: We’re a small company. We’re almost all women under the age of forty. We didn’t plan that. It just sort of happened that way a year and a half ago when the guys who founded the theatre retired. No one gets paid, so we all have other jobs. It’s not glamorous, but it’s theatre.
Stay tuned.
